This box contains photographs, VHS tapes, and audio cassettes relating to Florida NOW activities from 1997-2002.[1]

Overview

This box contains media and other miscellaneous documents. This box is particularly interesting to the digital Florida NOW collection because it adds a face and voice to women who we have

The audio tapes are recorded phone conferences between officers of Florida NOW from 1997-2001. The topics are varied and contain internal business . These audio tapes are an average duration of 45 minutes on Side A and some have a shorter run time on Side B. The audio has been transcribed for easier navigation and searching.

The photos were originally stored in unsorted photo albums and have been transferred into envelopes for better preservation. These images have been scanned in a high resolution and uploaded into a common JPG format for easy access. Most of these images are uncaptioned and the individuals who have been photographed are unknown. Work towards identifying these women remains a future endeavor. The content of the photos are

The two videos in this box have not been converted from VHS.

There is one folder of newspaper clippings which has been scanned and transcribed. Two documents have not been scanned, as they are the newspaper in its entirety, and are out of the scope of this project. Content includes letters to the editor and opinion pieces written by local chapter presidents and Florida NOW officers about various topics, and various articles about NOW and women's issues on the national level.
